We’ve put together a checklist to help make your Community Achiever Program (CAP) application successful.Notice: Applications for the 2020 CAP entry program have now closed. Please check back in March 2020 for information about 2021 CAP applications. Your CAP application checklistTo get you on your way, we’ve put together some guidance to help you through the application process. Prepare your Community Experience StatementA core part of your CAP application is the Community Experience Statement, a piece of writing – of no more than 200 words in length – where you tell us about your community involvement. You can write one statement or two, depending on how many community groups you’ve been involved with. How to get started. Think about your community experience and identify the main roles you've undertaken. What did you do?
When, and how often?. Examples of community experience could include voluntary roles or activities in social justice, school leadership or service, parish or church support, sports, arts/performing arts, and culture. Your sporting achievements must include a community service component, such as fundraising, coaching or club management. If you've been involved in lots of volunteering activities, focus on the activities where you gave a significant amount of time to assist others. You can include a few activities in the same statement – just make sure your referee can verify everything you mention.Choosing a referee.
Your referee must be a person who supervised you for the duration of your community service. They will be verifying to us what you say in your written statement. If your work was directly aligned with your school, you could ask a Coordinator or another senior member of the Administration to be your referee. Talk to your referee and let them know that you're applying. They should be someone you would feel comfortable asking to speak for you – and who would feel comfortable telling us about you. You'll need to tell us their name, position and a current email address so they can confirm what you've done when we contact them.
Make sure their contact details are accurateWriting tips. Write a concise, factual description of your community involvement. Tell us where you volunteered, for how long, what your tasks and responsibilities were, and how often you participated. Focus on the experiences and achievements you've had while volunteering. Don’t mention any work experience or paid work. Have a friend, family member or your referee read your statement. Two heads are better than one – they may pick up something you have overlooked.
GoodPoorIn year 10, I completed work experience in a nursing home and I enjoyed the experience so much that I volunteered to return again this year.I have visited the local nursing home, reading to two aged persons (once/week for 10 weeks), and participated in a concert, playing the piano and singing in a small choir.(13 hours involvement).I have provided care and company to the aged community by visiting a nursing home on a weekly basis. I like talking to the elderly people in the nursing home and I have been invited back next year.I took part in my schools immersion trip to Vietnam in March 2015.After applying and being chosen to participate in July 2014, my team of eight students was required to raise $3000 in funds to be used on our project of building a new classroom. We attended seven preparatory meetings prior to departure. The week in Vietnam included eight hour days of physical work and classroom support for the students in the village.Since returning I have continued to fund raise for this community and I maintain communication with the teachers in the school which we supported.(At least 60 hours)I went to Vietnam for a week in March this year.
My team raised funds and worked every day for 5 days building a school. I would like to continue to perform community service when I leave school and that is why I want to enrol at ACU. How the competition worksIn October 2019, cheeses from six continents were staged in a huge arena at the Fiera di Bergamo in Bergamo, Italy. All entries were judged in a single day by carefully assembled teams of technical experts, buyers, retailers and food writers. Judges worked in teams of three, identifying any cheeses worthy of a gold, silver or bronze award. They looked at the rind and the body of the cheese, its colour, texture, consistency and, above all, its taste.
The first LP is the original quartet version of the band, recorded between 1977 and 1979, performing excellent versions of tunes (mostly) off. Once in a lifetime the best of talking heads rar player.
Each of the teams then nominated one exceptional cheese as the Super Gold from their table. These top-flight cheeses are the best in the world and were then judged a second time by the Super Jury of 16 internationally-recognised experts, who each selected a cheese to champion in the final round of judging.
The Super Jury, representing all four corners of the globe, then debated the final 16 in front of a live consumer and trade audience, before choosing the World Champion Cheese live on WCA TV, with cheese lovers across the globe tuning in for the drama.
