Not getting sound in my machin, sound card is not detected by fedora 9, i hv foxconn mother board with realtek ac'97 audio controller.there are no audio drivers for linux on foxconn home website.read a lot of posts in ubuntu forms n tryd, but nothing worked for me.i have tried 'LinuxPkg5.11.tar.bz2' these drivers provided by realtek but it was not able to detect the sound cardany one with same problem please help.on windows sound is okmy mother board is Foxconn RC4107MA-RS2. What the previous post said is an easy and quick try and I've done it myself.If that fails, and If, IF you're brave you can get the drivers from linux-drivers.orgYou can find the hardware info of your soundcard through the motherboard manual (assuming it's built in) but sometimes if you have XP install it will give you an idea but I suggest the manual - you did save the manual right? If not, you can look at the board and between the PCI slots in white letters the motherboard ID is listed. Do a google search and that should give you the manufacturers site. You can even call them and ask them what the chipset is and they should tell you over the phone (with the motherboard ID as well)Then go to linux-drivers.orgthen you can use the modprobe function from the command line prompt to install the driver.modprobe -v -a (name of driver)I would usemodprobe -v -n (name of driver first)This will test the driver to see if it works properly.
