That looks so much like the sunburst signature model Brent had a few years ago and then gave away. He had wanted a sunburst for a year and was told each time he called they would do that for him, and then in June 2006 during a photo shoot one of the heads of Gibson happened to be there and I told him that Brent had repeatedly requested a sunburst model be made for him but it had never been done. The next day the same man emailed me and said he would make it any way Brent wanted it to be made and get it to us asap. Since Brent was not home I told him to put the white sparkle pic guard on since I love those. They had never made one like it in the Brent Mason signature line so it was the first one. We both thought it was so gorgeous when they shipped it to us and Brent played it but he ended up after all that bother giving it away to someone as a gift and perhaps they sold it.
I was very unhappy when he gave it away because I thought it was so beautiful and I felt like I sort of created it. The guitars that Brent has that are in my opinion the best looking are always the ones he ends up giving away, trading, or selling like a beautiful limited edition reef green Les Paul that I loved.
If it isn't the one Brent had - maybe after they made that one for us they made some others like it.I can't find a picture of the one that looks like yours but below I did find a picture of the other sunburst signature model he had made that is a completely different type of sunburst finish with a topaz brown sparkle pick guard and binding. He still has this one.Julie Mason. Brent Mason TeleBlue Water Girl, I don't know if this is the same one you are talking about.
2.Origin of JavaIn 1991, Java was developed by a team led by James I 1991 J d l db t l db JGosling and Patrick Naughton at Sun Microsystems.
I purchased it from Music Go Round in Houston, TX. I could not believe how good of shape it was in when I received it.
It looks like it has never been played. No scratches what so ever.
It also came with a very nice strap and a strap lock system. I would love to come to hear Brent at 3rd and Lindsley sometime and get him to autograph it but I live in Indiana and it is about a four hour drive for us to Nashville. Sounds like it could be the one Brent had specially made.
He barely played it, never had it set up with Joe Glaser, we just didn't have it long enough, and the reason he gave it away as a gift was because the particular person needed to raise some money. They never said they were going to sell it but we both had the feeling that they would and Brent was hoping they would - that's why he gave it to the person. So - maybe it has been bouncing around from place to place. I am glad it has a nice home now if it is indeed the one. Judging by the color of the wood I am almost positive it is.
That's a really nice cherry burst. I have to admit this: It was Brent's silver/gray Tele that first caught my attention back in the late 1980s. Then I listened to his playing and was hooked! Not to mention that he seems more like a regular guy than a lot of prima donna players with endorsement/signature model deals. You know, I think it's great that Gibson stepped up and offered Brent a signature model. All things considered, the price is about right for a handmade limited-production guitar.
Valley Arts instruments are top-shelf, that's for sure. I do think it's unfortunate that Fender missed out on a fantastic opportunity to bestow signature model status on guy whose primary instrument is unique in both cosmetic and functional ways. Could anybody point me to the correct wiring and pick ups that are in the brent mason set up, I tried the set up on the seymour duncan website but it is way wrong - if anyone could hook me up with the wiring diagram and parts list I'd be very happy./QUOTEFlewis,I can email you the correct wiring diagram and parts litst or you can hit up Terry Downs on here, I'm sure he'll send it to you or post it here as I think he created the diagram himself. He recently updated the diagram to an exact match of the valley arts guitar. I wired up one with this configuration yesterday and although I don't have the tele setup yet since it was a partscaster build, it flat out sounds amazing!Dean.
